We soft wash instead of pressure washing: low pressure plus a cleaning solution that kills the algae, moss and lichen at the root rather than stripping the protective granules off your shingles. Nothing gets blasted.
Frankfort is built around the Kentucky River, and the historic core sits on both banks. Three historic districts cover that core, and the buildings in them run to nineteenth century brick and stone, with the Old State Capitol of 1837 and the 1887 courthouse still standing among them. Consumer Reports publishes 1,500 to 3,000 PSI as the range for concrete, and a shingle is nothing like concrete. The same goes for painted wood, old mortar and stucco, which lift or erode under force. Those surfaces get a soft wash instead: low pressure plus a cleaning solution.
