Nothing gets blasted, so the granules stay bonded to the shingle. Foot traffic causes granule loss on its own, especially on a hot day when the asphalt is soft, so we keep it to a minimum.

Algae and moss grow fastest in warm, humid weather, and a Kentucky spring and summer gives both plenty to feed on, so that is when most Louisville roofs start showing it.
